So it begins again.
This thing they call life, they call school.
People who will walk all over you
Just so they can get what they want.
Picking up the slack to keep things running,
Left behind at a request
Ignored, yet called on for the rest of you
To play your games in drunken splendor
And glare while I try and hold my son,
Those few precious moments out of years that will never exist again
To hear unabashed childhood laughter
Joy just from being,
A laugh of pure enjoyment,
While 4 legged mischief makes chase,
Barely concealed anger to see my brother's marriage
To see my love's family,
To ask for so little, yet be met with hate
Hate over late nights spent in smoke filled bars, sodden with drink
To scream at ball chasing lunatics,
And then to ask for more,
All smiles and innocence.
Knowing all the while what the cost...
